DOIS POEMAS IRLANDESES – por Rachel Gutiérrez

to Dublin
Dubln, your chimneys at a distance
Take mysterious forms of guardian angels
Of Ireland mythic and mystic
Or maybe they are Celtic Gods
That command your sensuality
And protect your heroes and martyrs
Your poets and humorists
And James Joyce who left you
But thought about you always
As his Ithaca
Your Penelopes, your guides
Also guardian angels of your history
You have a thousand suffered years
You are a Woman conquered
By the English, dominated
But proudly resistant
And finally liberated, Yes
Like Molly, recreated
By herself.
Dublin revisited
She already knew the place
Where the spirit of music
Fills the electric air
Where green is shining
And the sea and lonely Waters
Mirror the Sky
And as a pilgrim she went
Once more to hear the music
Where friends are warm and gentle
As only Dubliners can be
This time she saw the shining
Mountains
And a tower by the sea
Indeed the green was shining
And sky was in the waters
Once more the electric air
Filled the secret temple
Of poetry.
